On Friday March 20th we had a wonderful afternoon with the children at the Child Development Center in Irvine. In our fun, interactive presentation we got to share the message of water safety and safe swim practices. All the children were very enthusiastic and eager to participate. With their help, we narrated the story of Sammy Starfish, Timmy Tadpole, Gilbert Guppy and their quest to teach water safety. The three Water Buddies taught everyone how to practice the Safer 3 which includes Safer Water, Safer Kids and Safer Response. The children were entertained by our story and they each got a coloring sheet to take home as a reminder of the day. We want to thank Marsha for letting us come to her center to educate the children on the importance of swimming and water safety.
Swim Meet This Saturday March 28th! If you missed our first ever Gold Dollar Coin Toss, you can catch it again this Saturday!March 23, 2009
Waterworks‘ first ever Gold Dollar Coin Toss was held at our February 28th Swim Competition and it was received with so much enthusiasm that we have decided to continue the tradition for one more swim meet! In the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day we will be having a “Lucky Pot of Gold” Dollar Coin Toss for our next swim meet THIS Saturday March 28th. For those of you who haven’t been to a swim meet, we always end the competition with our popular Coin Toss. Swim meet participants get to jump in the pool and gather as many coins as they can. All coins the children find, they get to take home. We are grateful to US Bank for sponsoring these 2 Gold Dollar Coin Tosses and giving the children something extra special to look forward to. If you would like to register for this competition please come by the front desk to pick up a registration form.
At Waterworks we like to show our appreciation to those employees who perform above and beyond the call of duty. Every month we feature one Office/Maintenance Staff member and one Aquatic Staff member who are nominated by their fellow staff members. For the month of February we extend a big Congratulations to Maintenance Manager Juan Hernandez and Swim Instructor Julian Carvalho!
Those of you who know Juan and Julian have seen the hard work and dedication they put into their jobs. Fellow Waterworks Staff members praised Juan and Julian in their nomination requests by saying:
- “Juan is always helping out, whether in the maintenance department of even filling in at the front desk in a pinch.”
- “Juan has a no problem/ I’ll get it done for you attitude. Seems every task he is asked to take on he gives it his all.”
- “Julian is always in a good mood and willing to help out other instructors and the office staff. He seems to take pride in his work.”
- “Julian takes additions to his schedule, never says no and is always willing to help out.”
Both Juan and Julian are very valuable members of our team here at Waterworks Aquatics and we are proud to feature them this month.
Keeping our pools in clean and pristine condition is very important to us here at Waterworks and we work hard to achieve that. Some clients have expressed an interest in knowing more about our pools’ cleaning process and we would love to share that with you.
Our state of the art commercial equipment filters the full body of water in each of our pools 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All of the water in our indoor pools passes through an Ultra Violet Light, which enhances the cleanliness of our pools. UV light systems are designed to have all the water run through a UV Light chamber, which is located in our pump equipment room. This is a completely safe process as many of the drinking water facilities are also equipped with these units.
We are excited to announce that after taking some time off to let his broken arm heal, Instructor Justen is Back! Justen is on the mend and has resumed teaching again on Monday March 9th! He is starting out with a limited schedule and will work back up to a full time schedule as soon as his arm is fully healed. Justen is a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher and we are happy that he is able to start teaching with us again. For those of you who haven’t met Justen, he has extensive experience working with children.
