Outdoor Pool has Reopened!

March 30, 2009

Warmer weather is in the air!  For those of you who enjoy taking advantage of Southern California’s pleasant weather by swimming outdoors, Waterworks is excited to inform you that we have reopened the outdoor pool!  The pool has been drained, scrubbed and filled with new water for the new of season.  Already many lap swimmers have moved to the outdoor pool to enjoy the sun.  I have seen several swimmers use our outdoor pool and enjoying the Orange County sun by relaxing in our lounge chairs after their work out.  Starting April 1st our swim teams will also move outdoors meaning swim team supporters can choose to watch their swimmers while soaking up the sun or from comfort of the shaded areas. The opening of the outdoor pool also gives swimmers more space to swim and learn.

The April swim competitions return to the outdoor pool!

Interactive Water Safety Presentation; Children had a Great Time!

March 27, 2009

On Friday March 20th we had a wonderful afternoon with the children at the Child Development Center in Irvine. In our fun, interactive presentation we got to share the message of water safety and safe swim practices. All the children were very enthusiastic and eager to participate. With their help, we narrated the story of Sammy Starfish, Timmy Tadpole, Gilbert Guppy and their quest to teach water safety. The three Water Buddies taught everyone how to practice the Safer 3 which includes Safer Water, Safer Kids and Safer Response. The children were entertained by our story and they each got a coloring sheet to take home as a reminder of the day. We want to thank Marsha for letting us come to her center to educate the children on the importance of swimming and water safety.

The votes are in: Congratulations to February’s Employees of the Month!

March 20, 2009

JulianJuanAt Waterworks we like to show our appreciation to those employees who perform above and beyond the call of duty.  Every month we feature one Office/Maintenance Staff member and one Aquatic Staff member who are nominated by their fellow staff members.  For the month of February we extend a big Congratulations to Maintenance Manager Juan Hernandez and Swim Instructor Julian Carvalho!

Those of you who know Juan and Julian have seen the hard work and dedication they put into their jobs.  Fellow Waterworks Staff members praised Juan and Julian in their nomination requests by saying:

  • “Juan is always helping out, whether in the maintenance department of even filling in at the front desk in a pinch.”
  • “Juan has a no problem/ I’ll get it done for you attitude.  Seems every task he is asked to take on he gives it his all.”
  • “Julian is always in a good mood and willing to help out other instructors and the office staff.  He seems to take pride in his work.”
  • “Julian takes additions to his schedule, never says no and is always willing to help out.”

Both Juan and Julian are very valuable members of our team here at Waterworks Aquatics and we are proud to feature them this month.

Pool Maintenance and Cleanliness is Important to Us

March 11, 2009

swimcomp1Keeping our pools in clean and pristine condition is very important to us here at Waterworks and we work hard to achieve that.  Some clients have expressed an interest in knowing more about our pools’ cleaning process and we would love to share that with you.

Our state of the art commercial equipment filters the full body of water in each of our pools 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  All of the water in our indoor pools passes through an Ultra Violet Light, which enhances the cleanliness of our pools.  UV light systems are designed to have all the water run through a UV Light chamber, which is located in our pump equipment room.  This is a completely safe process as many of the drinking water facilities are also equipped with these units.
