I had the pleasure of speaking with Julie and her two sons today as they got ready for their lessons with Lindsay and here’s what they had to say about their experience with Waterworks so far.

Alexi:  So Julie, how long have you been taking lessons with us?

Julie: Well Nathan’s 5 and we started when he was 8 months so…

A: Wow that is a long time – almost five years!

J: Yeah we love it

A: Oh great and you’ve been with instructor Lindsay the whole time?

J: Nathan has been with him for about 2 years and Eliot [3 years old] just switched to him now, so that’s good.

A: Oh great! Well Nathan, do you like your lessons here?

Nathan: Uh huh.

A: What is your favorite thing about swimming with Lindsay?

N: Swimming with him under the water. The submarine with the water!

A: Oh yeah that does sound fun! Well I’m going to ask your mom some questions now, ok?

N: Ok.

A: Thanks. So Julie, what is the best thing about Waterworks from your perspective?

J: I’d have to say having them [her two kids] taking lessons at the same time or around the same time, so they can play together in the pool. Eliot takes his at 2:20 and Nathan @ 3:20 so they can play together in between in the play area.

A: Oh yes, that’s great! It’s probably really fun for them to bond like that.

J: Yeah it is

A: Well, just a couple more questions. In your time here, how would you rate your experience with our office staff from 1-10 (10 being the best)?

J: I’d say about 8. I don’t schedule with them that often because I go online a lot and do it from home.

A: Ah I see. Ok. And how would you rate your experience at Waterworks overall?

J: 8 or 9. We really like it.

A: Thank you so much! It was great talking with you all and I hope you have a great lesson today!

J: Thanks!

April 22nd: Waterworks Irvine Testimonial

April 22, 2014

Testimonial Tuesday!
Today’s testimony comes from Paige and her daddy, Chris!

I found them by the pool today waiting for her lesson with Lindsay, so I asked them some questions about their time here at Waterworks.

WW: So how long have you been coming to Waterworks?
Chris: 3 and a half years
WW: Oh great! And who is your instructor today?
Paige: Lindsay!
WW: Oh Lindsay’s great! Do you like Lindsay?
Paige: *Nods* Uh huh.
WW: What’s your favorite thing about Waterworks?
Paige: The Froggy.
WW & Chris: The what?
Paige: The Froggy
WW: Oh the breast-stroke?
Paige: Yeah.
WW: What type of lessons do you take?
Chris: Semi-private
WW: Great! Is Paige friends with her swim partner?
Paige: Yes!
WW: Did you know them before?
Paige: *Shakes her head*
Chris: No, we’ve had a couple come in and out, but we’ve stuck with Lindsay consistently
WW: Oh well that’s good that you are friends with them then. So Chris, how would you rate our customer service at the front desk?
Chris: It’s very good. Excellent.
WW: Thank you!
Chris: Yeah, it’s always great, but it’s just crowded now because we come at the peak hours. We used to come in off hours when she was in the Parent & Me classes and it was so quiet. So maybe you could open up a second free swim area so there’s more room for more kids.
WW: That is a great suggestion! I will definitely see if we can do that. Thank you. And thank you both for talking with me! I’ll see you later. Have fun in your lesson with Lindsay, Paige!
Paige: Okay
WW: Bye!
Chris and Paige: Bye!

Waterworks Aquatics Irvine: Testimonial Tuesday!
By: Alexi

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Julie McCarthy while she watched her son, Matthew, during his stroke clinic with instructor Lindsay. I asked her some questions about Waterworks and she was very forthcoming with her experiences. I was happy to meet with her and learn about her time here, so I hope you find her comments as interesting and helpful as I did. We always want to hear about our customers’ experiences, so thank you, Julie! We wish Matthew all the best with his swim team this summer and I look forward to seeing you next week!

1. How long have you been coming to Waterworks?

This is my first day actually. Well, we used to take lessons a long time ago. My daughter came before also, but we came back for my son to take stroke clinics.

2. When you arrived today how did you find the customer service representatives at our front desk?

They are great! I felt very welcome. [Sara] helped me when I had to change my Thursday lesson because we won’t be here. She was very nice and did a great job.

3. How do you think your son is doing so far with the stroke clinic?

We love it! Lindsay is great with the kids. He has a great energy and he makes the work out fun. The kids really respond to him. We used to take lessons with him before, too, so I’m glad he’s still here! Matthew is going to be on the summer swim team so these will help him prepare for that. Swim team practices are good for endurance, but stroke clinics are more one-on-one. They focus more on fixing specific things, like hand movements. It really helps with his technique.

Julie’s son Matthew takes Stroke Clinic lessons 2 times per week with instructors Lindsay and Ally. For more information on our stroke clinics and swim team, please visit our website at http://waterworksswim.com/programs.php
We also have swim competitions for children who may not be old enough for the swim team, but want to show off their skills.

We value our customer’s experiences here at Waterworks. If you would like to submit a review, please do so on our Testimonials page on our website, or visit our Yelp page. Have a great Tuesday!

Waterworks Irvine: Testimonial Tuesday!
April 1st, 2014
by: Beau B.

For this week’s Testimonial Tuesday we have an excellent review on Yelp written by Reba N. What a great thing it is to see parents share their child’s growing experience with us and be so excited to tell others about how well our programs worked for them! If you too have an excellent experience you would like to share please visit yelp.com to create a review for us!
Our two children took swimming classes at Waterworks for nearly four years, starting the parent and me classes and moving up through semi-private classes. It is a wonderful swim school. Facilities are beautiful, clean, and large, staff is helpful and polite and flexible – they allowed both of my kids to take lessons at the same time in one semi-private session even though they were both at very different levels. That was so helpful logistically for us! Lots of area for parents to sit and watch in comfort. There are kids of all ages and abilities, from those probably training for the Olympics to those just learning how to be safe in the water. My kids loved it as an activity (they are now 3 and 5). If you are looking for a quick and easy place to teach the minimum skills not to drown, this is probably not a good fit. It took years for my older daughter to truly learn to swim (though she did start as an infant, so I’m sure it wouldn’t be as long for an older child). But that being said, it was a wonderful experience for her – low pressure, loving, and I know she learned the right way, so if she decides to pursue swimming as an activity and learn specific strokes, I know she won’t have to unlearn/relearn how to swim. The three-year old was not as enthusiastic about swimming, so we just let her take lessons until she could hold her breath, but never got to the point where she could independently swim. For the cost, it’s just too expensive to do anything beyond the safety basics with an unwilling child. We had many, many teachers during our time as most of the instructors are college kids who don’t last for a long time. I’d say that overall, we only had one or two that were not good fits. But despite many good ones, the absolute best we had been Kilynne. I wouldn’t go back to anyone else. She was SO enthusiastic with the kids, and really made it fun – though she was firm in teaching appropriate skills and keeping them focused. Even when my little one was nervous about lessons, Kilynne immediately put her at ease. If you go now, get into one of her classes!

Waterworks Aquatics Swim School

Irvine Client Review

Thank you for checking back with us!

We really like hearing about our customers’ experiences at Waterworks and Yelp is a great place to share yours with us! We read them, we listen, and sometimes, we share them with you!

Below you’ll find one such review from Jen L. in Irvine who talks about one of our lesser known programs: Adult Swim Lessons.

She highlights her success in learning not only how to float, but to swim half-way across the pool in just ten minutes! That’s TURBO TERRIFIC!

Jen writes, “Had my 1st EVER in my life swim lesson today with a girlfriend and was really pleasantly surprised with the results! … About 10 minutes into the lesson I was swimming! I actually stayed afloat and made it halfway across a full sized pool! That’s great to me considering I don’t swim at all!!! … The female instructor was really awesome. She was really helpful, experienced (17 years’ experience she mentioned) and made learning really easy. I don’t get how 10 minutes with her got me swimming while an hour with other people got me lungs full of water. I really wish I had done this a lot sooner! Anyways… the facilities are really clean, HUGE and everyone is really friendly. The pools are super warm so you can feel comfortable learning. … I am definitely going to come back soon for a 2nd lesson!”

Thank you, Jen! We are glad that you found even the first lesson so helpful to you!

If you are thirteen years old or older, our adult lessons will help you be confident in the water and ready for summer!

For more information on our Adult Program, stop by the front desk on your next visit, check out our website, or give us a call! We’d love to tell you all about it! And if you’ve had a great Waterworks instructor or a great experience with our office staff, we’d love to hear about that, too! You can write your review on Yelp or our Facebook page. Who knows? Your review could be highlighted in our next blog!
